How do we solve problems like international conflict, world hunger, global pandemics, climate change, human rights violations, or increasing inequality? According to Global Studies scholars, the only way is to combine the power and perspectives of multiple different disciplines. In this 5x10, you will be given a grand world challenge. You will meet faculty from the Global Studies program who come from different disciplines, like anthropology, history, and journalism. After learning how each of these experts might approach the problem, you will brainstorm solutions to this grand challenge that will appeal to each of these scholars and get their "stamp of approval." By the end of the event, you'll experience how combining different fields together, also known as interdisciplinarity, gives us keys to begin to address issues that previously seemed impossible. We'll share some fascinating conversations—plus some food & swag!
