Financial Support for Environmental Policy Students

Environmental Policy provides multiple forms of financial support for income students:

  • Teaching Assistantship (TA): Environmental Policy has one TA position to offer to our strongest applicant. The applicant awarded this position provides support to one undergraduate class in the fall and another class in the spring semester. The TA position covers 100% of tuition and includes a stipend.
  • Research Assistantships (RA): Faculty members within Environmental Policy oversee several research projects that hire student researchers. Current projects include air quality monitoring in collaboration with local officials and neighborhood groups, and work within Lehigh’ Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience Center, and the Small Cities Lab. These also cover 100% of tuition and provide a stipend. Students interested in being considered for a Research Assistantship should indicate which aligns with their own research and experience in their application to the program.
  • Community Fellowships: Community Fellowships are ideal for students who want to combine rigorous academic training with meaningful, community-based work. While completing a Master’s in Environmental Policy, fellows work 20 hours per week at a participating agency, gaining hands-on experience.  The Fellowship covers the tuition costs associated with 21 of students’ 30 credits (thanks to support from both Lehigh University and partner agencies). Students interested in being considered for a Community Fellowship should include a letter describing their qualifications and what an ideal fellowship placement would look like in their application
  • Dean’s Select Scholarships: these merit-based scholarships cover 50% of a student’s tuition.
